From April 14 to April 18 2026, Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast will take center stage as the inaugural Bisbee’s Costa Rica Offshore Tournament arrives in Quepos. Hosted at the renowned Marina Pez Vela, this highly anticipated event marks the first time the legendary tournament series has been held in the country.
For over four decades, Bisbee’s Tournaments have set the gold standard in competitive offshore fishing. Known for attracting elite anglers, high-performance vessels, and record-breaking prize purses, Bisbee’s events are widely regarded as the pinnacle of the sport. Now, Costa Rica joins this prestigious circuit, bringing global attention to its rich waters and thriving sportfishing culture.

What to Expect During Tournament Week
The tournament kicks off with check-in on April 14, followed by several days of intense offshore competition, and concludes with the Awards Ceremony on April 18. Anglers will target some of the ocean’s most prized species, including Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, and Sailfish - all under strict catch-and-release guidelines. Teams must provide official video documentation to validate their catches, adding a technical and strategic element to the competition.
In contrast, Tuna and Dorado (mahimahi) will be brought ashore for daily weigh-ins, held each evening from 4:00 to 7:30 pm. With a limit of two fish per boat, these weigh-ins promise a lively atmosphere as teams showcase their best catches of the day.
A Spectacle On and Off the Water
With a base entry fee of $5,000—and competitive packages exceeding $119,000 for teams entering all categories—this is no ordinary fishing tournament. Visitors can expect to see an impressive fleet of sportfishing yachts filling the marina, along with an international crowd of anglers and spectators.
Even if you’re not competing, the event offers a unique opportunity to experience the excitement up close. After a relaxing afternoon on a Brisa Elegante sunset cruise, guests can head over to the marina to witness the energy of the weigh-ins and soak in the vibrant tournament atmosphere.
Why It Matters
The arrival of Bisbee’s in Costa Rica signals more than just a new tournament—it highlights the country’s growing reputation as a world-class sportfishing destination. With its abundant marine life, stunning coastline, and well-developed marina infrastructure, Quepos is the perfect stage for this iconic event.
