Cruise Description

We leave Marina Pez Vela hoisting the sails as we pass Parque Nahomi and follow the coastline along Manuel Antonio Beach. The cruise continues past Isla Olocuita and Isla Mogote, offering spectacular views of the lush rainforest of Manuel Antonio National Park.

A welcome drink, juice or coffee, and fresh fruit are offered.

Relax in the sun or unwind in the shade as you watch dolphins, sea turtles, manta rays, and pelicans glide by. During whale season, you may even witness whales breaching.

Whale watching

From September to October, the Central Pacific coast is one of the best places in the world to see Humpback Whales. During this time, whales from the Southern Hemisphere migrate north to the warm, calm waters of Costa Rica to give birth and nurture their calves.

A second whale-watching season takes place from late December to March, when whales from the Northern Hemisphere make their way south to these same tropical waters.

Join us for an unforgettable morning or sunset cruise — and witness these gentle giants up close as they breach and play along the coastline.

As this is nature and wildlife, there are no guarantees you will spot whales, however the chances are very high.

Watersports activities

We anchor in a sheltered bay where you can swim, enjoy snorkeling, relax on our floating mat, or explore the water with kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. You can even “walk the plank” before diving in the warm Pacific waters.

Bring your swimsuit and towel!

Seasonal snorkeling near Playa Tulemar may reveal Parrotfish, Wrasses, Pufferfish, Damselfish, Sergeant Majors, and small octopuses. Snorkeling equipment is provided.

While you swim, our chef prepares a freshly cooked meal accommodating any dietary needs.

The morning cruise returns to Marina Pez Vela around 12:15 pm.

During the sunset cruise, savor the beauty of the Pacific as the sky transforms with color before we gently return to Marina Pez Vela around 5:30 pm — or a little later, just after the sun dips below the horizon, depending on the season.
